my saturn 98, manual, just started going to manual when shifting 2 or 4, 1 2 3 and reverse works, can I drive this way sometime? Is it repairable in a fair price?

It's called popping out of gear and indicates your synchros are worn out. Trans needs a rebuild.

You now have a 3 speed.
If your commute is mainly inside the city, keep driving it this way. If you drive on the highway (at high speed) a lot, it might be worthwhile looking for a used transmission, from a junkyard.

Some advice; a lot of people seem to like to rest their right had on the shift knob while they are driving. This puts pressure on the synchros and wears them out prematurely. Avoid this.
