What causes a communication problem between a scan tool and a car?

If you got power at the OBD II port, issues with the car computer could result in the communication issue. Try a different scan tool and see if the problem is still there.
I just bought a lil scan tool Launch Creader 3001, Scotty made a video about it 3 years ago, it's great, i love it, but, I tried it on a couple of Fiats, it wouldn't connect, it displays '' connection error", i also tried it on a Peugeot 301 and a Peugeot 2008 (they have the same engine and they're both brand new) same thing, i tried it on other peugeots, it worked fine
Contact the company. It might not be compatible with some makes and models.
