Scion reliability

Was Scion any good of a car? I know it's a cheaper Toyota but it did not last long and my aunt who had a Scion xD failed for her and my neighbor's tC is having some issues. Was Scion a mistake from Toyota?

Clarification: which model years did they have, as well as engine/transmission combo? And what issues did both of them have?

neighbor has 2004-2010 2.5 I4 automatic (oxygen sensor); still drives it and aunt had 2010 xD 1.8 I4 automatic(engine knocking); got rid of it because she doesn't know cars.

Is this the least reliable toyota brand?

Scions are Toyotas that were geared toward younger drivers, hence they're more sporty looking and feeling. The vehicles themselves are just badge engineered variations of other Toyota vehicles. Toyota dropped the brand because it really didn't make financial sense to build sporty cars for young people when young people are buying regular Toyotas already. They're just as reliable as their Toyota badged counterparts if they get even the most basic maintenance. Scotty has discussed the brand in several videos, if you want to know more.

In terms of reliability, the Scion brand was overall pretty solid.  Yeah, there were some years of models that had issues (to stay away from) - true with Toyota and Lexus as well - but still good overall.  I personally never cared for their stylinHere’s one assessment from Scotty:
