Hey everyone! I am sure it's because i dont know anything but Scotty recommends using 505 engine oil cleaner for the carbon buildup. But doesn't scotty always say not to do an engine flush? isnt that the same thing.... can someone point out my error?

thanks

Scotty says no to transmission flushes. He does recommend ATS 505.

That isnt what he is saying here....

You are correct, Scotty did not recommend engine flushes (of any kind) 4 years ago. Since that time he's tried one particular engine carbon cleaner called ATS 505. He tested it in several cars and its effectiveness has been demonstrated in several videos since then. For engines with serious carbon issues he recommends trying it. The single most important thing Scotty points out in every video is the importance of regular oil changes.

The owner before me didnt really take good care of their car at all. I got it and the engine and transmission oil was pretty dark. So since I dont see any serious carbon issues in my engine other than a rough idle on an incline I shouldnt flush?

if you're trying to free up seized piston rings on an oil burner, sure it's worth a shot. If you don't have any issues, then it's not going to do anything for you.
