Isn’t one of Scotty’s car, a 2002 Lexus ES300, prone to oil consumption since it has that 1MZ-FE motor? I haven’t heard anything about Scotty saying that it’s burning oil, but he might just be keeping up with maintenance and changing the oil at the proper mileage.

Yes. The 3.0 MZ Toyota V6 is prone to oil sludge. It is the same engine in my grandma's 02 Camry XLE. Ways to prevent oil sludge from happening is changing the oil every 5k miles. I used to drive my sister's 05 Chrysler Sebring with the 2.7 and I had zero oil sludges issues with that car. It also never burned any oil at all.

If you do keep up with maintenance on a car that is prone to have issues, then I don't think you would be having these problems in the first place.
