My moms 2002 grand marquis 105k has bad ac and compressor and bad shocks and exhaust. Think i should sell it and move on to a toyota sequoia all wheel drive. I live in wis and winter snow can be bad.
Do i want the first gen with 4.7 v8 or the 2008 and later 5.7 v8 . The newer is slightly bigger and so am I. Thinking of either a 2005 / 2006 for about 9 to 10 thousand. Or a 2009 / 2010 for about 12 to 13 thousand. Used ones all have 200k miles or close.
The 4.7 has the internal starter and a timing belt / water pump / tensioner to do every 90 k or so. Mileage is the sane and I dont drive many miles.
So want advice on what year or at least generation to buy. My dad is a ford guy. He thinks I should buy a 2010 expedition of so. But I think the toyota will be better and hold up the y to 8 years I plan to keep the truck.
Any advice would be appreciated. Scott
The Expedition will be less reliable then the Toyota. Both are gas hogs. If you will get a Ford, get the V8 Explorer mid 2000s with lower mileage. Toyota Sequoa is not bad and will last longer but it has the V8 which is harder to work on and more expensive to repair than lets say a Highlander's V6.
Get a V6 Highlander
@yaser
I dont fit well into a highlander. I dove one 2 days ago and the console hits my knee and hurts. I cant drive it without severe pain. Which is why my question was gen 1 or gen 2 sequoia . Which is a comfy vehicle for me. Also. The highlander cant tow my 6000 pound tractor. Which i do at times.
If you tried it and it does not work for you, get the newer Sequoia which has timing chain. The towing capacity of V6 highlander is 5000 pounds which is lower than what you need.
