I just went to my Toyota service center and they stated in an MPI report that I needed a Shift Plate Replacement for my 2011 Toyota Camry XLE.
Has anyone had a similar issue with this or is even necessary?
Yes, here is the part number - 5883333100 - costs about $30.00, OEM.
That's an unusual thing to replace - is there a problem with putting the car into gear/changing to park or reverse?
Are you sure they aren't talking about the flex plate?
Toyota doesn't even list a Shift Plate as a part on 2011s.
On the invoice estimate, it's Shifter Bushing ("Needs Shifter Plate and Slide; the vehicle is getting harder to get in and out of gear")
I've never had a Toyota before so I'm not really familiar with their particular shift pattern so I couldn't exactly say whether it is actually getting tougher to shift out of gear or not.
