Shore power homeless sitrep

  1. I'm a homeless Veteran living in my 2004 Suburban. My Optima (yellow 34/78) has been degrading from only using a battery charger for power to the vehicle for the radio via Bluetooth phone. What's the best way to implement a "shore power" type solution via only one 15amp extension cord for my inside home electric heater and keeping the stereo available

The most common solution would be to get a portable power station and charge it with a solar panel on your roof

I agree with @glen_stet about the portable power station, assuming you have the budget. Much simpler than wiring the rig for shore power.  But really, to get a good one you’ll need to spend about $1500+.  The cheap ones just don’t have the flexibility to do everything (most of them are really just big cell phone chargers).

If you need a lower cost alternative, you might poke around the Van life forums.  Those people are all about DIY electricals on a budget.
