I am looking at a Toyota Corolla LE  automatic FWD 1.8L V4 with 170,363 miles.Do you think it’s in the end of its lifespan. I would drive it 52 miles a day. The used car lot is selling the vechicle for $3,500.00. I would appreciate it if I could get advice before buying. Thank yo

Which model year?

It’s a 1999 Corolla

You don't know until you gather data. If the maintenance has been poor, then it might be. If the maintenance has been good, and the vehicle has not been wrecked, flooded, stolen, ineptly maintained, etc. it might be fine.

Besides driving it and getting a PPI (Pre-Purpose Inspection), do your own initial scan, and look for DTC (Diagnostic Trouble Codes) and see what any Enhanced Diagnostics say.

And, if the car is from the North, East or Northeast, check for rust, in particular.

Depends on year, if a mechanic says its in good shape and you check the Toyota Honda Common Problems page linked below, then it could be a good deal. If its 2002 or older, forget about it.

It’s a 1999 Corolla thanks I’ll check it out.

1998-2002 Corollas are infamous for oil burning. Also, I would haggle hard no more than $2500. Make sure to have a mechanic check it out first because a Corolla can last double or triple that if its been cared for, but if has not been cared for like my parent's old 97, it will fall apart shortly.

For a Corolla that is a spring chicken. Lots of life left in it.

I have 1999-2001 corollas around me with

less mileage selling all day long between 1500-2500. Dealerships put way to much markup on cars.

What year is it? It seems like fine deal on that Corolla and no, I don’t think it’s at the end of its life as it still has a lot of life left if taken care of. As always, have an independent mechanic check it out, and you’re good to go.

I appreciate it Matthew Yim it’s a 1999 Corolla.

Beware of that gen Corolla as it’s notorious for excessive oil consumption. Was that the only Corolla you found in your area? It not, then try to find an 03 and up Corolla as it doesn’t suffer much from that issue.

The year would be good to know. You need to have the car checked,  but there is no reason the car can't go 3 or 400000 miles if it is in good shape. If the condition is good the price seems fair.

It’s a 1999 Corolla .

I am not sure your market, so how good of a deal it is depends on that. 98 to 02 Corollas are known to be oil burners. I would look at a different vehicle.
