Should I buy a 1991 Toyota Camry?

I'm thinking of buying this 1991 Toyota Camry. It has 160k miles and it looks to be in pretty good condition. It's priced at 3000$ and I'm looking for a good first car. I did a car fax and it looked pretty normal it's just its had been deemed a total loss back in 2004 I'm guessing it had been in a back end collision. Any thoughts?

Do you realize just how old that prospective car is? Carfax didn't even release reports to the public via website until its 1996 launch. Prior to that, only dealers had access to those reports, and they were not very common. Judging from the length of time between 1991 and 2004, it was probably deemed a total loss because the amount of money it would cost in repairs was worth more than the car at that time. It was 13 years old at the time it was wrecked. Somebody salvaged it and had it repaired. They had to put "Rebuilt" on that title. That's not a "normal" car.

A car over 30 years old that had been totalled previously in an accident? They should be paying you to haul it away.
