Dear Scotty or anyone who’s reading this, I have found a Corvair I’d like to rebuild has see through shotgun rust on the rocker and such hasn’t been moved and has been under a pine tree. But other than that it still all looks there  and is in pretty ok condition.thoughts?

If the rust is see-through bad, I would pass.

I love old Corvairs -drove them back in the day. That said, substantial rust on a unibody car is a nightmare to fix, and only makes sense if the car is super-collectible. If the engine and running gear are solid, find an unrusty body and combine the good parts from the 2 cars.

So, my recommendation - buy a Corvair, but probably not THAT one.

Love those cars but rustout is a major problem. If rockers are visibly rotted out that's probably just the beginning of the nightmare. I'd pass on it.

My first car was a 63 Monza. Yes! buy if and rebuild it. the engine alone is worth it.
