Hey Scotty, love your channel. My friend has a 2007 Volvo XC90 with the V8 and all wheel drive. It has a salvage title, and I currently drive it, as he lets me drive it. I need a car, and I'd like to offer him $2500. It does have a supposedly common Volvo problem of the idiot light on of the anti lock up thingy turned off. A local shop says that these are money pits, but I need a car, and it's pretty nice otherwise. The salvage title comes from an accident from a few years ago, but the insurance company totaled it out because the repairs amounted to more than the 15 year old car was worth. It has 161K miles.
It has a salvage title
Definitely a big red flag, especially if you don't have details on the damage that caused it to be totalled.
A local shop says that these are money pits
They are correct. It's 18 years old. There are many expensive things that can go wrong with that vehicle, parts & service are expensive, and the V8 with AWD is likely a gas hog.
Given the low price if a mechanic says it is currently OK you could gamble $2500 with the expectation you might get a year or so out of it before it starts costing many $$$$ in repairs. I'd try to get it cheaper though due to the risk.
