check the website carcomplaints.com The information presented there indicates that the 2004 had more complaints by far than any other year of the F150. Spark plugs breaking off in the heads, engine knocking, engine failure, spark plug blow-out, severe engine shaking when accelerating, engine running rough, etc. And with regards to the transmission, complaints of the overdrive failing, transmission failure, transmission clunks and shuddering and transmission slipping. Differential failure as well. There's much more info there if you care to look.

Also do a google search for the worst year of the Ford F150 and you will find a multitude of articles all listing the 2004. There are videos as well.
