Hey' Scotty. Is it a good thing to buy a lincoln mkz car 2014 model for $7,995 this car is not at a dealership it is at a towing yard private owner.
What is the mileage and which engine? Hybrid or non-hybrid?
I would avoid it. Seeing the price also makes me think its a used car lot. Either way, that is too much for one of those and they don't tend to last. The engines are not designed for longevity, and the transmissions are weak.
You didn’t say the mileage. For that MY (and other years), you had the 2.0L Ecoboost I4 which was GDI and came standard. But you could also get a 3.7L Duratec V6 (optional) which was port injected. And there was a hybrid offered too. But the 3.7L V6 engine had the water pump driven by a timing chain which could potentially take out the whole engine if it leaked. Even getting to the water pump required taking part of the engine apart - just a nightmare.
In short, if that vehicle is already approaching 100,000 miles, neither engine option (2.0L GDI Ecoboost or 3.7L Duratec) nor the hybrid would be good for long term ownership and therefore the vehicle should be avoided.
I wouldn’t buy it. The motors in those are GDI and most likely turboed. Unless prior owner knew about carbon build up and took measures to mitigate that. I would steer clear. I wouldn’t doubt there is probably a good amount of carbon build up.
