Should I buy this truck?

Scotty,

I found a 2011 Toyota Tundra Limited Crewmax with the 5.7l flex fuel engine and automatic transmission. It has 141,000 miles. According to the pictures the truck is very nice except a scratch on the tail gate and a medium rust hole in the chrome bumper. It looks very clean and is fully loaded. The asking price is $24,000. I don't know much about flex fuel engines as far as if they are any good or their reliability. What are your thoughts? Thanks.

I will never buy a flex fuel vehicle again. Avoid it if you can.

What happened?

@daywalker
It's a long story involving buggy virtual sensors, extremely rich running engine, resets with dealer tools etc. There are endless discussions about it on the internet.
The gist of it is that, like cylinder deactivation, they are unreliable systems which were not engineered properly, and in the long term will lead to shortened engine life. I am pursuing a way to disable it permanently (there's no E85 around here anyway). Unfortunately, it may only be possible through expensive PCM reprogramming, which the dealer may not want to do.
