Hello Scotty, I have a 2008 Toyota Camry Japanese made (not US) gasoline and not a hybrid. It does not come with a CVT transmission and has a transmission oil dipstick. It currently has close to 200’000 kilometers on the ODO. When I went to the dealership, they said that you should have changed the trans oil every 80’000km and if you want us to change it now, you are gonna have to sign a release from if anything were to happen after the service!!!!.
I went to another mechanic and he said that you do not have to change it if it is still PINK when you pull the dipstick.
At the moment, it still has a PINKish tint but I am just unsure what “issues” will i be facing if i went ahead and changed it at the dealership?
If anyone has experience with this please help. Thanks
RakMas
I would definitely change it, if it has never been changed, I don't think yours has a pan, so just a drain plug to remove. Look in your owners manual for the liquid capacity of the tranny. I would use toyota fluid.
Thank you for your insight. I bought the car while it had 16’000 km on it and I never changed the transmission fluid. The thing is, since it is Japanese made, I am struggling to find the owners manual for it. All i could find was the US made manual and they are quite different.
Get the Vin # and call a toyota dealer parts department they might be able to tell you.
