Should I do a transmission flush?

Hey Scotty, I just got my oil changed at 32 thousand miles on my used 2017 Ford Fusion and my mechanic said next time I get an oil changed I should also flush my transmission fluid for $170. Is this a fair price and should I do it?

Don’t do it. Also, find yourself another mechanic.

It's a fair enough price, but transmission service is best when the bottom pan is removed and filter(s) cleaned/changed.

Removing the pan also allows the mechanic to visually inspect for, and remove gunk or metal shavings.

If you trust the mechanic to properly use the machine, it will not likely do any harm.  Your vehicle has low miles and would not be at risk of loosening any excessive deposits.

The danger comes from people flushing old transmissions that have high mileage and no past service.  In these cases, deposits can sometimes break loose in pieces large enough to block filters and small tubes.

Good that the mechanic recommends the fluid change though.
