Dear Scottie, love the channel, you are the best. I have an 07 ford explorer, v6, 4 wheel drive with the advanced rsc system. 134k miles. I have the dreaded death rattle from a bad timing chain guide or tensioner. My mechanic says it's not worth it to fix it due to having to pull the engine to do any work to it. He says it can run for quite some time like this and not to worry about it. He also says this engine is a terrible design and to just run it til it stops running. The rest of the vehicle is good, no leaks no rust paint still shines. Should I replace the engine when it inevitably fails? It's It's perfectly good vehicle besides the rattle and I'd hate to get rid of it over a crappy engine design. Thanks

Powertrain Products sell reman engines for this vehicle with a 5 year warranty if you want to keep it.  If not, you could always donate it to charity and take the tax deduction, or just back it into the crusher.
