Should I keep my Mazda cx5 after cylinder head repair?

Hello Scotty A question on an engine with a cracked cylinder head. Looking into it, Mazda put defective cylinder heads in some of there cars. After Mazda Dealership did replace defective parts we still smell oil and am not trusting their work. We are thinking about getting rid of the once reliable car for a more trust worthy used car ( honda CRV)/ truck (Honda Ridgeline). Would this be a great time to get rid of it or trust their work and hope oil smell goes away eventually?

My wife has a 2018 Mazda CX5 Grand Touring package, automatic trans with 72000 mls that was bought new. We read it was suppose to be a good reliable car. She broke down during the 200 mile trip to visit her parents, oil everywhere we had to get towed to the nearest dealership. She did like it for our country living. The $5000.00 cracked cylinder head was replaced at next to nothing even with no warranty. The dealership had to get their blood out of us so they charged us $600.00 when all said and done. Now we dont trust the car. She drives 70 mls round trip to work in Northern Mi winters.

Thank you and have a great day.

You could try a compression test and a leakdown test and see for yourself.

All of the cylinders should be within a few percent of each other.

Thanks for the response. I dont have the tools. I just curious if anyone has had same problem. Tx again

You can easily rent them. Go to any national auto parts store, like AutoZone. After you're finished, take them back and you'll get all of your money back Smile
