P0420 appeared after I used MotorPower Care DPF Foam Cleaner — Diesel Particulate Filter & Catalytic Converter Cleaner Spray.

My Toyota Camry burns about 1 quart (1000 ml) of oil every 1000 miles and has 225,600 miles.

After using the cleaner, the P0420 light went away. However, my fuel economy dropped from 22 MPG to 20 MPG, and I now feel about a 30% loss of power when accelerating.

Before using the MotorPower cleaner, the car accelerated normally and had no slow takeoff.

Should I put another bottle in? The MotorPower YouTube video says to use up to 3–4 bottles to help clear a clogged exhaust manifold.

I cleared the P0420 code after using Motor Power cleaner, but the catalytic converter is still clogged.

As I said, no snake oil additive is going to unclog a catalytic converter. That is simply not a realistic expectation. There are also other things than a bad converter that can trigger the P0420 code.

Now there is about a 20–30% loss of power.

Since that is happening subsequent to using the additive the stuff apparently did more harm than good. (Not a surprise with such products.) As there are many things that can cause a loss of power and fuel efficiency you need to do more diagnostic work. You might first hook up a gauge to confirm that there actually is excessive back pressure in the exhaust. If that is indeed the problem the only solution is to replace the clogged exhaust component (most likely the converter).

That stuff (which I at least have never heard of) has already caused your car severe problems, why would you add more?

No snake oil crap is going to clear a clogged exhaust system. If that product claims to do so that puts it firmly in the "scam" category.

Please provide all vehicle information requested in the posting instructions. We don't even know basic information such as the year of your Camry or how many miles it has.

@chucktobias direct foam spray to oxygen sensor. Exhuast manifold It did get off the po420

@chucktobias 2017 Camry I4 automatic: I cleared the P0420 code after using Motor Power cleaner, but the catalytic converter is still clogged. Now there is about a 20–30% loss of power.
