Should I sell my truck while I can and get a different vehicle?

Hey Scotty! I have a 2001 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 LS V6 engine with 170,000 miles. I had trouble starting my truck and after a few times of trying I heard a loud boom from under the hood and a lot of smoke was pouring out. After the smoke cleared out I saw that my valve cover had been blown in half on the driver’s side.

I pulled the dip stick and it smelled like gas. Then I pulled the spark plugs and those smelled like gas as well. I tried to see if the engine would still spin over and it did. Then I changed my engine oil and put the spark plugs back in and it started right up. After 30 minutes I tried to start it again and no luck. I’m thinking the fuel injectors are leaking and they have been replaced 6 years ago, but I heard those fuel injectors are not well made.

I’m thinking about bringing it to a mechanic and getting it fixed and selling it for as much as I can get for it as I’m worried about my engine being damaged and having expensive repairs and then I won’t be able to get nothing for it besides part it out and scrapping it.

Also I have my eye on a 2006 Chevrolet Trailblazer LS RWD with only 65,000 miles on it selling for $6,000 from a dealership. Let me know what you think! Thank you!

Yeah if you can get it running cheap enough I'd sell it and get the other one
