Shuddering montana

I just got a 2001 Pontiac 3.1 l Montana from my dad. It has issues the worst is the van shudders when pulling uphill. My dad says to get on it give it gas and it will stop. But I want to find out what's causing it. I am on a fixed income and can't afford to take it to his mechanic(who should have fixed this problem for him in the first place). I wont go there anyway. But I am 50 and have worked on and helped fix cars and trucks before. I want this van to last me so I don't want things to get worse by ignoring them. Help Scotty!

Well, first thing would be get a can of throttle body cleaner and mass air flow cleaner. I’ll post the videos from Scotty on those below. I also would recommend a transmission service, if your 150k miles or less just drain whats in the transmission pan, clean the pan, change the filter and top it off. If your closer to 200k just leave it alone. Do not flush the transmission.
