For well built and last a long time. If you can wait for the Type S version of the brand spanking new Integra, this is what I would get for a sports car.

And I would conjecture that the regular Integra would be fun too.

Otherwise the Mazda Miata or the Subaru BRZ / Toyota 86.

If you can spend a little more money, the new NSX is pretty sweet too.

The Toyota Supra / BMW Z4 are well built and last a long time BUT will cost an arm and a leg to maintain.

Out of that list, they are all too new to know if they will last a long time (150/200/250 thousand miles) esp. the NSX and Supra/Z4. The Miata (and maybe the Toyota 86/Subaru BRZ) would be best bets of those you mention, however.

Very true.

My basis for the Integra is that is basically civic technology under the hood (based on history). And going new, civics are usually a better choice.

A wise mechanic once told me for new cars:  “Price, performance, reliability/durability:  pick any two of the three, but you cannot have all three.”  That being said, for new cars here is the short list in no particular order:

  • Lexus RC F and RC350
  • Mazda Miata
  • Toyota 86 (Subaru BRZ)
  • Civic Type R
  • Subaru WRX

Avoid the Big Three muscle cars (Camaro, Challenger/Charger, and Mustang) and Corvettes and anything German, Italian, Korean.
