Slipping out of first gear

I have a 2013 Toyota RAV4 Limited FWD 4 cylinder with 180,000 miles. The car takes off fine but slips a little getting out of first gear. The other gears shift just fine. Don’t know what the problem is and scared it could be the transmission. Please help. Love you channel and appreciate your videos with my cars, real like changer in DIY learning. Thank you.

When is the last time the transmission fluid and filter were changed?

Darn it @chucktobias, you beat me to it by one minute!

Is this an automatic?  When did you last change the fluid and filter as per the owner's manual maintenance section?

Automatic. I am the second owner and bought the car with 60k miles. I have put on 100k miles, so I am assuming the trans fluid has never been changed and I am going to do that tomorrow. Filter is changed regularly.

The trans filter or the engine oil filter?  How can you say the filter has been changed regularly when you don't know when the trans fluid was changed?

You need an automatic transmission specialist (not a chain store) to diagnose just how bad the damage is from lack of maintenance.
