Small Coolant Seepage

Hello,

I have a 2016 Lexus RX 350 with 53k miles (front-wheel drive). My mechanic noticed a small coolant seepage (pink residue) and the engine never overheats.

Does this warrant a water pump replacement?

Thanks!

My mechanic said the leak was from the water pump itself. Is there any way for me to upload a photo here?

if you use the 'direct' link then the image will display right on the page.

Here's the image. Please advise and thank you!!

That appears to be coming from the weep port, which would indicate a failed seal. The solution is to replace the water pump.

Thank you!!

If it's the water pump that is leaking, yes, it should be replaced.

not necessarily if it's just the gasket. I wouldn't expect the pump to be worn out with only 50k

My mechanic noticed a small coolant seepage

where?

From the water pump itself, according to my mechanic.

where on the water pump? the weep hole? around the gasket? the hose clamp?

Is it possible to upload a photo here? I don’t where exactly that is, not the most mechanically inclined.

Yes it is possible. Instructions are in the "read this first" link at the top of the main page.

Where is the leak coming from?  Water pump, radiator, hose?
