Scotty,
How long will the premixed ethanol free fuel blends last? You can buy them at Lowe's or Home Depot and I have a small property. A gallon of gas would last me 2 years if it wouldn't go bad after a few weeks. Is there a difference in 4 stroke fuel and the 2 cycle with oil, does one last longer than the other?
We have a station near us that sells ethanol free gas. We fill up our gas cans and use it in for our lawn mowers and other yard gear so it can sit over the winter without worry. Before we found out about the station we were putting in gas stabilizer to get thru winter. If the stuff in Lowes or Home Depot is really ethanol free it probably would hold up the same, but read the label to see what the shelf life is.
I have not used the package fuel in the big box stores. It seems super expensive.
Unfortunately pump gas that is not contaminated with ethanol is not available in my area. What I've been doing is using the available gas-ethanol blend and adding fuel stabilizer to keep it from going bad quickly. That has kept my garden tractor and push mower one-lung 4-stroke engines happy. The only thing I've had a real problem is a weedeater which has a tiny 2-stroke engine. That has been a challenge to keep running. (Those little 2-strokes seem to be most vulnerable to contaminated fuel.) I might just break down and replace it with an electric weedeater this year.
