Hello
What does a bouncing spark advance at idle mean?
The computer uses the crankshaft position sensor, knock sensor, and probably others (MAP, TPS etc.), to adjust the spark timing.
Sometimes, it can be an indication of a problem with the timing belt/chain
So that's the only probable cause for a bouncing spark advance?
There are likely other causes, depending on the particular vehicle.
Are you having an issue with your car, or you just need help answering exam questions or something?
Thanks alot!
No, actually it's outta curiosity
Thanks
You are welcome!
MMJoe is right on this. The cam positioning sensor controls the spark timing on a lot of vehicles too. A stretched timing chain(belt) will also cause erratic ignition timing.
Very helpful, thank you
