I have a 2020 Toyota Corolla le cvt. The car is stock. I noticed the speedometer is off 2 mph. Not that big of a deal. My question is how normal is it for a stock car the the speedometer to be off. Is there a range what is considered acceptable for the speedometer to be off?
It's normal for a speedometer to be off by a few mph unless it's been calibrated as in a police car.
Good question. I put oversized tires on my truck, which has the speedo driven by a cable off the trans. The bigger tires effectively change the gear ration, so I hooked up a GPS device and found that the speedo was reading 10% slower than the actual speed shown on the GPS. Now I know that when the speedo reads 60 mph, I am actually going 66 mph.
The anaalog speedometer and the digital one in my 2018 Auris differ in reading for about 1 km/h
