Squealing Noise Lincoln Town Car

Topic starter

I recently purchased a 2003 Lincoln Town Car it has 133XXX miles on it, It’s making a squealing noise only when it starts then goes away after a few minutes. The previous owner took it to the shop and they said the source of noise was coming from Electric Cooling fan. They replaced the cooling fan assembly, thermostat and o-ring. The squealing didn’t go away. So I need your help. The noise is more noticeable if I do not touch the car overnight then turn it on in the morning. What can the problem be?

Check the fan belt first. Spray some water on the belt and see if the noise goes away. If it does, change the fan belt.

change the belt and if that doesn't help, get your battery + alternator tested.

It squeals most after you start the vehicle because the alternator is trying to recharge the battery

Yep I agree, change the belt and no more squeal. Good thing to change that thermostat too because of the age. I have owned several panthers, including currently a 2000 town car touring. They are very easy to work on. A good haynes manual and yoytube videos and the panther/lincoln guys on this forum can help too! Thats a good year you purchased. It should have an aluminum coolant passover from your new thermostat on you air intake manifold. The older panthers like my 2000 and older had a fallible plastic coolant passover that was prone to cracking due to heat/cooling cycles weakening the plastic. Change oil regularly and get new coil packs and spark plugs for good measure, fuel filter and check your air intake filter under the giant hood. Enjoy true luxury comfort and still peel rubber really well.
