What would you recommend for the Toyota Tacoma for 4x4 off road use? - Standard 6 speed transmission or Automatic transmission?

I have a Tacoma automatic. I don't think it matters, whichever you prefer.

For longevity and as an added theft protection a manual would be better

Manual transmissions are bullet proof which can last longer with less maintenance compared to automatic ones.
