Hello everyone, so I’m trying to help my friend with his 2002 Ford F-150 it’s having a intermittent starting problem, it’s makes a grinding noise sometimes and won’t start but after a few tries starting it’ll start up, he told me he put a remanufactured starter in it about a year ago, so I almost want to start with a new one but then again why would it grind as if it’s trying to start? Any advice would be helpful

Does the engine turn over or not? If not, the starter is on its way out.

It does start, but as I try to crank it sometimes it won’t start an makes a loud awful grinding noise

Haha never mind man the flexplate has missing teeth just saw it after taking the starter off, but I wonder how it’s stripped off a few teeth, the starter looks fine
