i just replaced the steering rack and ps pump on a 2000 mercury sable, with a new aftermarket rack from and online auto parts store, and a used pump. while filling the fluid and turning the steering wheel left to right, the steering wheel would complete the turn in either direction without any input from me. driving down the road is the same, car will try to turn on its own and i have to hold it back from running in the ditch. what went wrong?
It sounds like the valving in the steering rack isn't working correctly.
