steering wheel center changes after a turn

Topic starter

2000 Acura RL 191,000 miles, automatic w/3.5L v6.

After a left turn, the steering wheel's center shifts 5 inches(arc lenght,) ccw, and stays that way till shutdown.  Then after a restart, the steering wheel is back to perfect center position.  And, any subsequent left turns will -again- result in a cocked steering wheel center till engine is shutdown.

I would get this to an alignment specialty shop immediately for safety reasons.  It could be something simple like a loose tie rod or serious like a malfunctioning steering rack.  Either way, I would hate to be the guy coming toward you on the other side of the road when it lets go.
