Strange Sounds In First from Stop

Hi Scotty,

Amazing YouTube!

I have a 2000 Honda Accord, 4 Cyl, Manual Transmission, with about 215,000 miles.

From time to time, from a stop, when I engage the clutch go into firsts and accelerate, a strange rumble or creaking sound comes from the engine bay. It’s not loud, but it is noticeable.

It only happens form a stop or going slow, and in first gear. Every other gear is fine and normal.

I also notice slight creaking coming from engaging the clutch from time to time, just depressing the clutch. Not sure if that is related or not.

What do you think this could be?

Thank you!

Well do check for Warren transmission mounts. Pray it's something like that and not internal wear and first gear because those transmissions cost a fortune to rebuild

It's possible the throw out bearing is badly worn and about to fail.

What happens if this fails? Will I still be able to shift?

Tough to say without hearing. Or even seeing the car.

It could be like @Scotty said, the motor mounts.

It could also be like @Doc said, the throwout bearing.

Just throwing this out there, it could also be the axle or axle shaft bearings worn.

Hopefully, it’s not the transmission itself.
