Hi Scotty, is it safe for me to put my Subaru forester 2006 in FWD for long time. Like throught summer and then remove the fuse in winter?
Welcome new member!
I'm not super familiar with Subarus of that vintage, so maybe I'm wrong. But I don't think that's how it works. Are you saying you are planning to pull one of the fuses, and thereby go from AWD mode to FWD mode?
Subarus are not designed to be shifted from AWD into 2-wheel and back again. They are not like a traditional 4x4 system with a shiftable transfer case. I think if you start jacking with it you might have serious problems.
You might run your question past the Fozzy community; there are several forums dedicated to old Subarus that are active. You can also try messaging a YouTuber who goes by MrSubaru1387; he is a Subaru mechanic who has experience with the older Subies.
But otherwise, if it were up to me, I would say to leave it alone.
There's absolutely no point in doing it.
It's an AWD vehicle, so every axle and shaft is spinning all the time, whether you engage it or not.
That means that you won't notice any fuel economy improvement.

you will be more at risk of losing control
So it will be like normal FWD cars?
No. FWD cars do not have 100's of lbs of AWD drivertrain attached to each wheel.
What exactly are you trying to accomplish?
Well you can. It's just going to handle slightly different.
