Good day to you all!
Hey Scotty, I have a pre-owned 2006 Subaru legacy. The Subi had a big problem with shaking after I had a small "speed test with someone else" awhile back. I had driven the subi on the freeway on my way home a month after the "speed test" and that's when the shaking started to occur. The Subaru in question had no known problems beforehand, should I pull the Subi from the mechanics property and sell it?
The mechanic is letting me make payments when possible, since he has taken so long to finish repairing the problems he says. Should I take his word for it, and wait for him to be done or is it not even worth it to wait? Please, i need answers i'm going crazy!
It’s a bit tricky since you don’t understand much about vehicles. 1 year is way too long for any car to be in the shop for an engine swap.
Is the car at least drivable? If it is, take it to another mechanic who has good reviews from the people you trust.
@inthrustwetrust
Second this. Get it out of whatever shop that is and get it into a real mechanic shop if you ever want to really drive it again. 1 year is way to long for any type of repair...
@inthrustwetrust
Thank you everyone who has tried to give me advice with my situation, I now know what I must do. I'll recommend anyone I know who is having any type of car issues. Much thanks👍🏼
Definitely change your mechanic. If your car is not drivable, tow it.
Did he give u report what the problem was ?
I could remove the oil cap and my car will shake and idle all over the place..
@klob
My mother has been talking to the guy about my car, and all I know right now(i'll give you a better answer later) is that the guy who is working on my Subi had to buy another engine since the first one he tried to use was not the right one he needed. Also I never got any official papers of a report on my car, hence the better answer that will be given later today.
Well that escalated quickly!
Were you already made aware that a new engine was required beforehand?
@inthrustwetrust
Yes I was aware of the new engine and when I get the car back I will be selling it ASAP.
I'm terrible with the care of vehicles, and I don't know much, and that's why I need some advice on what to do
