Hello,
The question is in respect to a Kia Rio 2018 with an 1.4L engine, automatic, hatchback with only 25k miles.
When you have a flooded charcoal canister, is the gas smell evident when the engine is off or does it happen only when the car is running or in idle? I am suspecting a faulty charcoal canister because of overfilling the gas tank once. I overfilled it but not to the point the gas was overflowing. I smell gas when I first start the car but not after a while. I don't smell gas when the the engine is off.
I notice the car idles a bit rougher than before and the engine does not quite sound the same and it vibrates a little more. Not sure, maybe I am imagining it.
Thank you in advance for your help Mr. Kilmer.
Well it really depends on how it's broken if it's completely flooded in the evap canister stuck open you'll smell the gas. But if you have canister is operating normally then you'll only smell it when the car is running
The gas smell only appears when I first start the car, it later goes away and does not come back. I can not smell gas when the engine if off. I notice the car is vibrating just a little bit on idle. I ll try changing the spark plugs first, like you recommended in a few videos. Thank you.
