Does anyone have any experience with Gabriel shocks/struts? Are they quality or just another name brand that makes crap?
A very controversial subject matter, some people like Gabriel, some Monro, and others KYB....I personally buy The a Monro Quick Strut on Rockauto.com.
I change them every 60K on my 2008 Impala 198,000, never had an issue.
There warrantied for life, so send them back and they send you a new set.
keep in mind everything is relative when it comes to suspension parts.
everything works in sync when you have good tires, wheel bearings, tie rods, control arms, sway bar links, etc.
good luck,
I haven't used them personally. The online vibe is that they are comparable to Monroe, which isn't exactly a good thing as KYB is superior to Monroe. Also, I do know that all Gabriel shocks and struts are made in Mexico which is normally not a good sign. They also recommending changing shocks and struts every 50k miles which is way too soon IMO.
I use Bilstein for everything. Pricey but you get what you pay for.
Depends. They are more better suited for off-road and dirty as they are stiffer then say Monroe shocks which are better for on road if I were to make a comparison. Gabriel is made in mexico, so idk if you have a preference on that either.
Just make sure whatever you decide that if your looking to keep the car long term it’s in your best interest to get a warranty, preferably limited lifetime etc.
The prior comment, yes, you get what you pay for....
