- I have a 1997 Mazda B4000 with 404106 miles, manual trans. When it gets cold outside the temp gauge goes from normal to cold and back when I use the heater and there is a thumping sound coming from the heater area on the right side. What could cause this, I have changed the thermostat, it started when I moved from sunny Tennessee to South Dakota. It also has a broken grille. Thanks Troy Holsworth

Well if there's air in the system it will thump so have the air bled out of the system. Pray it's sad cuz if not that normally means the heater core is clogging up inside and they cost a fortune to replace
