  1. My motor makes a ticking sound. When I first heard this, I assumed the lifters had an issue, and it needed motor work. I’ve had the truck into several mechanics, including a ford dealership, and I feel like I can’t get a straight answer from them. One of the mechanics called it the ford tick, and the dealership said it is a common noise for my motor, and there is nothing wrong with it. I still think it’s the lifters making the noise, but they’re still within manufacture specifications. Have you heard of this issue, and can you please give me advice? I drive my family around in this truck, and I want to make sure I don’t get stuck on the side of the road, in the middle of no where!

Low oil pressure, direct fuel injector, arching from faulty wire plug and or coil. Exhaust leak usually around the manifold or cat. Something in the valve train.  Can you better describe the noise and the exact location of possible. If you can try posting a video and giving us the link.

Maybe think about getting a mechanics stethoscope. Harbour freight sells them for pretty. It will help you pin point the location and make it easier to diagnose
