2012 Nissan Sentra 200k miles
I was told by many to not change fluid. Wasn't sure when was changed but fluid was not black. And did not experience slipping but I did experience wine on very steep hill.
After I did a drain and refill of 4 quarts it sounds quieter and haven't seen the wine come back.
I used Amsoil 100 percent synthetic cvt fluid.
I thought beginning signs of a cvt trans going out was first slipping. But mine was winning on steep hills and no slipping.
Plan to fix up suspension then post for sale. Hoping to get like 2500-3k because body is r3qlly nice.
2012 Nissan Sentra 200k miles... I was told by many to not change fluid.
You're lucky it's still working at 200K miles. (With that kind of luck you should buy a lottery ticket!) Most of those transmissions fail much earlier as Nissan CVTs are weak. Scotty recommends changing fluid at about 20K mile intervals for those.

Good luck selling it. Given what I've learned here about those cars I certainly wouldn't go near the thing. Of course you may find a sucker buyer if it looks nice and they are not car savvy. Note the most common reported problem with that model:

Is it worth buying a used t4ansmission with 132k on it fluid looks good and he said drove good
They want 500
Probably not, it would be a gamble. You can't believe anything the seller is telling you. The Jatco CVTs used by Nissan typically have problems by the time they reach 100K miles. It's not unusual for them to fail completely before then. (Some last longer, some fail sooner but by and large they're not much good.)
I was told by many to not change fluid.
Nonsense.
Told by whom?
Read the transmission article in our FAQ.
CVT transmissions are different than regular automatics.
I have never heard anything bad about changing a cvt fluid, only bad to not do it. Companies, even toyota will scare people into saying it is lifetime fluid, and don't change it, in this country at least. Many other countries don't go with that lifetime fluid garbage.
I am surprised yours made it that long without changing, have you owned it since new?
Owned since a month ago.
Previous owner had for 7 years
Said she never changed the fluid
But took to trans tech they just looked at fluid on dip stick and said it needs to be changed but isn't horrible and can wait and isn't dire.
Said fluid looks right.
Lady got from thought it was a 2011 so idk having a car for 7 years and not knowing the year of your car? Maybe she did get it changed.
