Thoughts on a 2014 VW Jetta TDI as a next car?

I own a hummer h3 and currently daily it, it has 205k miles and climbing never had any issues until now where my sending unit is finally rotting a little at the top causing an evap leak. Was wondering your thoughts on a TDI and if you think its a good enough car to switch over to considering that class action law suit for that year. Thanks.

I have a friend who owns one and he seems to like it. Diesels can be tricky because the cost of repair is generally greater than that of a gas engine. VW is really hit and miss as a manufacturer but you might mitigate the cost of ownership of a VW by getting a super good deal on a TDI (since the dealerships can now sell them at a deep discount). If you can talk the dealership down to a price that just cant be beat I would by a very low mileage model, keep it and drive it for a while and then sell it around 80,000 miles.

The tdi Engines can be a good pick because they tend to be more reliable than the gdi gasoline engines.  If you want a more reliable pick try and go for one with a manual transmission because they hold up longer than the dsgs but if you get one with a dsg make sure to change the fluid every 30,000 miles
