What do you think about synthetic fuels? Germany is pushing for it. If it is carbon free, I'm quite fine with it. But how much does it cost? It it taxed? Is it compatible with older ICE cars?

it is going to cost A LOT. If it's anything like the fancy 2-stroke fuels, about $10/L ($40/gal). It has to be compatible or nobody will be able to use it.
