Is it normal for my Nissan throttle to stay open

hi ,i have a 2007 Nissan Navara d40 I noticed the butterfly in throttle body stayed open when i got to it and i wasn't pressing gas pedal, engine remains off ... please let me know its normal? thank you !

That is not normal and is what is called a "sticking throttle body" or a "hung open throttle body". 

 

What you want to do is get a can of throttle body cleaner and give it a really good cleaning. Build up from normal driving will, over time, cause it to stick open like that. 

 

Once you have cleaned it up, make sure to check the throttle body linkage to insure that it is not sticking either. This should resolve your issue.

 

*Safety Tip*= If you are ever driving and experience a hung throttle, try taking your foot off the gas and tapping the pedal a couple of times in quick succession. This will normally unstick it and allow you to brake safely. I would not drive the vehicle again until you have the throttle body service done.
