Hey Scotty,
Congrats on the new digs! My partner has a 2006 Ion Automatic with 160,000 km. It seems to have developed a ticking noise, it sounds like a lifter to me.
Should I get my hands dirty, or should I just let it tick?

Replacing the lifters would cost more than the car is worth at this point. I'd say let it tick and junk it when the time comes. Just because you have some noise doesn't necessarily mean it won't go some time yet before anything catastrophic happens.
