Hey Scotty. I recently purchased a 1997 Toyota Tacoma pickup with 4WD and a 5 speed.
It's got the 2.7L 4 cylinder and has 237,000 miles on her.
She is running fine, but I don't know if it has a timing belt or a timing chain, or if it has ever been changed. She runs almost like new.
Should I change it?

It has a chain. If you have no info on if it has been replaced and it isn't making any noise, leave it alone. If when it is started on a cold morning you hear a rattling sound, it's time to change it out.
If it has 237K miles on it and the chain isn't making any noise, somebody already changed it at least once.
