Tow small rv 1900

2016 Kia Sportage Ex Sx. Car manual max tow weight 2000. I don't plan on traveling any place very far. Possibly 25 miles once a month. Will my vehicle be ok to tow the camper infrequently short distances ? Also if I wanted to tow something weighing 2500 can something be added to my vehicle & what's the average cost to do so.

I will not do that. I understand that it is within the towing capacity but Kia/Hyundai are not well made and you should avoid putting strain on their powertrain if you want them to last the longest.

No.

Infrequently, short distances, 1900 pounds, yes.

If you want to get the most out of towing within the manufacturers tow rating, you can:

  1. If the brakes have significant wear, replace the pads and rotors
  2. If the transmission fluid hasn’t been changed recently, change it
  3. Ditto coolant
  4. Ditto gear oil
  5. Put on stiffer tires*

That said, @yaser is right, that vehicle was never intended for more than occasional, light weight towing.  It will age fast if you tow with it.

*It looks like they might make the Michelin Defender LTX in your size. Get that.
