Scotty,

I enjoy the videos. What do you recommend for pulling a 3,500lb. competition Ski Boat? I have been pulling it with a 2009 GMC Envoy for eleven years. The mileage is getting up there I currently have 233,000 miles on it. Not too shabby.

Thanks,

Graz

Get a mid-sized pickup, even the old Rangers will pull 5k and above, Tacoma's about the same. Otherwise, it's getting harder and harder to find vehicles that tow anything, unless you go with a Tahoe, Suburban, or something like that. Also, beware of some GM and Ford compact suv's that "claim" they can tow 3,500 lbs., you'll destroy the drivetrain in short order. If you're looking used, take your pick, if you want new, check-out a 2021 Tacoma SR5. Avoid the new Ranger like the plague ! GM Colorado/Canyon can tow that much but still have major transmission issues. LOL

Man you're lucky that thing lasted so long if you're really going to do a lot of towing you are better off with a diesel engine though

As a multiple Trailblazer/Envoy owner, I applaud the mileage and time you got out of her. The real question is how often are you towing and how far. The poster above is correct about overworking modern cross overs but if it's occasional and not far, they may suffice. I'd also consider how much room you really need. That would help narrow down truck vs SUV.

Think about what else you could do with the many hundreds of dollars each month: more boating trips? Investing for retirement? Etc etc.

I would look for at a new or used Toyota 4Runner. I tow a 4,500lb Boston Whaler and have 274,000 miles on my 4Runner. 4Runners will last a very long time with regular maintenance.
