Hi Scotty, I have a 1984 Celica with a 22RE 4 cyl engine. It has 160,000 miles and burns a little oil. How can I fix this and what other problems should I be looking out for?

THANKS!

Rebuild the engine.

Of course you could try changing the PCV valve and maybe try the ATS Carbon Clean product that Scotty recommends, but chances are after 40 years that the oil control rings are weak.

Also check for leaks, it may be leaking as much or more as it's burning.

Any original rubber parts left on the car (fuel lines, brake hoses, suspension bushings, etc.) will likely need replacement.

How much oil is it burning, like how many thousands of miles per quart, or hundreds of miles per quart?
