Looking at toyota sedans (mainly corolla and camry, maybe avolon) and i was wondering which of these transmissions is more reliable, the direct shift 8 speed electronically controlled transmission with intelligence or their continously variable transmission

I go for the 8 speed automatic transmission.

Toyota get 8 speed but it has problems.

So both have problems. So its like picking a poison then
If you get a Toyota, you're picking poison anyway. Quality through the floor, 8 speed problems, fuel pumps recall with no fix, and of course, price increases.
